Australia, US and UK form AUKUS a new nuclear defence pact
Re: Australia, US and UK form AUUKUS a new nuclear defence pact
Australia always wanted nuclear powered subs but that wasn't politically feasible so soon after Fukushima.

Scotty’s off to Washington.
How can I get a present to him in time for take off?

Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

I couldn't care about the nuclear pact; but this was amusing from the video conference between the fella down under, Boris and Biden:

The technology for nuclear powered subs is a highly guarded secret that the US is extremely reluctant to share.
Yet here they are, sharing that same tech with Australia.
Why? or more importantly, why now?
Well, we all know the answer to that question, don't we?
China
It's a giant "fck you" to China. Who have a ticking bomb on their hands with Evergrande (think MBS but with houses) and if the Australians cut off the supply of iron ore to China be prepared for some very rash moves from 'ol Winnie the Pooh himself, Xi Jinping

Yeah, a 70 year old secret that about ten countries also have. It's just not worth it for smaller countries to justify the costs of subs, diesel electric or not. That's why they strike deals with others to manufacture or retrofit them.IraHayes wrote:The technology for nuclear powered subs is a highly guarded secret that the US is extremely reluctant to share.

Really? So the US and UK have been sharing top secret submarine tech for 50 years. And in those 50 years you dodn't think they have developed stuff no one else has?Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 9:02 pmYeah, a 70 year old secret that about ten countries also have. A lot of tech sites are reporting on this because of the tech sharing side of the deal. The US has never shared any of it's tech with anyone except Britain. Why do you think France felt so snubbed? Australia is not just getting better subs they are getting the tech sharing side with it.
And while an Australian built sub won't be seen anytime soon they will be buying them from the US and before they buy them they will be having "more visits" from current US nuclear subs. This is why China has been furious. They will be running "training" missions to bring the Aus submariners up to speed before they even take delivery. And I'm guessing a lot of this "training" will be in the South China Sea.
