Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the night of September 2, 2021, in Sangkat Boeung Kok 2, Khan Toul Kork, at the Phsar Moan Ang traffic stop, an unidentified man was seen driving a Honda Dream (Kompong Thom 106876) very fast, chased by an unidentified racing motorbike on Street 315.

The man on the Honda Dream hit a pothole at high speed, which catapulted him on to the road where he landed on his head and died instantly, while the motorbike was flung 30m away. After the accident, the chaser immediately escaped from the scene leaving the victim behind.

After the police examined the scene, they found 2 small bags of drugs on the victim and suspected him to be a drug dealer chased by Anti-drug law enforcement officers.
The victim and the vehicle were taken away and kept at the pagoda for the relatives to collect for the funeral.

If the chasers on the racing moto were anti-drug law enforcement officers, why would they be compelled to escape from the scene immediately?

Would the deceased's family be able to get money from them?

Just a weird situation. Cops, especially the higher up anti-drug cops don’t run from the scene. They call their more heavily armed friends as back up. It was the local cops, who later deduced, it was the anti-drug cops. Based on Cambodia police super-sleuthing powers, maybe?

Why would the local police give compensation for a fleeing (and now deceased) drug dealer? He hit a pothole. Should the public works department also give compensation for allowing the pothole to occur?

This is Cambodia, not some western country where drug dealers are viewed as innocent victims.

Just my opinion, of course.

I hope this is from some sorts of mis-translating. If this statement is really from the police, it really describes well their title as the so called "competent authority".
