American Jason Richard Barnett Kills GBT Guesthouse Staff
Pictures of the victim, GRAPHIC:
Spoiler:
The neighbors of Jason Richard Barnett, who was renting a house in Sihanoukville, called the police because they could hear fighting. When the police arrived, they found the Cambodian man (Sarin), lying on the floor unconscious and Jason Barnett covered in blood.
Staff that worked at GBT Guesthouse 3 said they were friends and hung out often over the past 3 months.
Police do not know what caused the brutal attack, but people that know them are speculating it was because of a love-triangle.
Sarin was sent to a hospital (Calemette?) in Phnom Penh in serious condition and they think it's unlikely he will survive.
The American perpetrator, Jason Richard Barnett, has quite an arrest record in Florida, USA, including charges for burglary, battery, driving without a licence and he even dared to have an open container of alcohol in his car.
GBT Guesthouse 3 is the one closest to the beach:

Congratulations Jason, you psychotic butthead. You have joined a very exclusive club of life's despicable losers. Enjoy your many many miserable years in Prey Sar. I hope you get dysentery on day one and have it as a constant companion for the rest of your sentence.CEOCambodiaNews wrote: Sarin was sent to a hospital (Calemette?) in Phnom Penh in serious condition and they think it's unlikely he will survive.

I wonder if he has any outstanding arrest warrants... Didn't see any, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

No shortage of stupid, violent, toothless, white trash, meth-heads in Daytona. I'd be surprised if Yama didn't have something to do w/this. Enjoy Cambodian prison Jason you waste of life.

it would be nice if someone would attempt to counter balance this trash by doing anything possible to give some aid to the victim. I hope to see that he pulls thru with no lasting damage at least. I'm remembering Sun San who organized food purchase, transport and hand delivery by boat during the widespread floods. Is that guesthouse barang owned?
it's times like this I'm glad to know this animal will spend a long time in a 3rd world hellhole. Hopefully money will not make THIS disappear.

But he looks like such a peaceful, friendly chap in that bloodspattered photo above...

Re: American Jason Richard Barnett Assaults GBT Guesthouse S
Here's what I noticed: His passport was issued in October 2014. Passports are good for 10 years. This is probably his first passport, not a replacement. Why would he get his first passport at age 33 and end up in Sihanoukville? He's probably going fugitive to stay a step ahead of something he's already been arrested on or expected to be soon.
Possible scenario:
He could have been arrested on serious charges of some sort - say they caught him with a kilo of something felonious. He could be arrested and then make bail with charges pending, possibly delayed for a while because it has to be looked at by a U.S. Attorney who has to decide whether to ask a Grand Jury to indict him or not. If he asks them to indict, they will indict... their indictment rate is over 99% ... It was like 14 cases out of 160,000 where the Grand Jury declined to indict, and those were probably cops who shot somebody, and the prosecutors were signalling hard to the jurors to refuse. So he assumes he's about to get hit with some heavy charges.
So while he's out on bail he heads to someplace like Chicago (if he's in Michigan) and gets a quickie passport done. Then proceeds directly to the airport and boards a flight over here. I know this scenario is possible. I'm back in the USA right now and I have a friend here facing 108 months (he's not going to run, he has a daughter that was born in July and he as no violent priors, so if he gets to go to "boot camp" he'll be out in three maybe.) And a friend of his, this girl in her early 20's, got swooped up with 2 pounds of felonious narcotics in her car. She was moving a pound a day I guess. Insane. Everyone here is insane - the cops, the criminals, everybody. Anyways, she's out on bail and waiting for the other shoe to drop, and she could easily bolt right now were she to obtain her passport, and I don't believe they will deny it to someone simply for a pending case, it'd be difficult for them to know or coordinate that. If they knew she'd already gotten her passport, they'd ask her to surrender it as a bail condition though.
Or he could have killed somebody. The body has been discovered, and he's a suspect or person of interest at this point. Or anything. But he's dodging something, either current or pending. Dudes like him aren't exactly world traveler material most of the time. Not too curious about seeing the world. Not too happy to be doing it either, judging by his behavior here.

Oh shit, we might have a fugitive!
This was from October 18, 2007:
Goodrich resident Jason Richard Barnett, 26, is wanted on a felony warrant by the Michigan State Police for delivery/manufacture of marijuana.
If you know the whereabouts of any of these fugitives, please do not approach, instead call Central Dispatch non-emergency number at 810-667-0292 or the Michigan State Police post-Lapeer at 810-664-2905.
http://mla.mihomepaper.com/node/12072#.VJdyUNAAIE
"...he's Jason Richard Barnett, married to J#nnifer Barnett, formerly of Waterford, MI and Fort Myers, FL and Cape Coral, FL. DOB 9/16/1981 ... At least one felony arrest for marijuana growing, some alcohol misdemeanors, and at least one assault/battery charge. And I would guess that he has serious charges pending against him, possibly at the Federal level, and he was maybe out on bail waiting for a Grand Jury to indict him when he bolted. Just a guess, dunno..."
[Credit to Ned, who posted the above info on our Facebook page, including the arrest warrant for the marihuana charges.]
The US has been a little quicker to extradite Americans with arrest warrants over the last couple years, so he might be on a free flight home.
Also, since he just broke the law here, I assume he'd have to serve his time here before being extradite to the States.
It's also possible this warrant is no longer valid, but who knows.
