Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

Hotel/Guesthouse - 1 Month in Bangkok

Post by Cowshed Cowboy »

I'm heading to Bangkok at the start of February for a month and am looking for accommodation. My experience of Bangkok has always been max a few days staying on Sukhumvit somewhere. I want to avoid that for the longer stay and as the purpose of the trip is mainly lazy days strolling around with my camera I was thinking maybe the old town area and/or near the Chao Praya river might make be a good option for a change.

Anyone got any recommendations or maybe any suggestions of interesting alternative locations to consider. I don't really want to go higher than 1,000 baht a night if possible.

I seem to remember WackyJacky had a good hotel deal booking strategy for getting the best price but I can't locate the post.

Thanks in advance for any replies and suggestions.
Yes sir, I can boogie, I can boogie, boogie, boogie all night long.

Forget hotels. The only way to go for that long is Airbnb. You'll be able to get a nice apt w/a pool & a gym for that price. Monthly prices come way down on a lot of joints. PM me your email & I'll send you an invite with a $25 discount coupon. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I know BKK pretty well. Just make sure you get a place close to BTS or MRT & buy a Rabbit Card or a 30 day Smart Pass. ps: The Smart pass looks like the better deal right now as it's on promotion: http://www.bts.co.th/customer/en/01-con ... udent.aspx
