Police Come to the Rescue of Locked Up Foreign Workers

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): At 9:45 am on August 18, 2021,the city police raided a building and rescued 12 local and foreign workers, after an anonymous report was sent to police, expressing concerns and frustration amongst the foreigners who had paid a work agency to find them work in Cambodia.
The report was filed on 17 August by an anonymous journalist, contacted by one of the Thai nationals who was trapped by the agency.

Following the raid, the workers were questioned by the police who found out that they were transferred from the Kandal province border to a house near Samrong Andet pagoda, Krong Thmey village, Sangkat Kork Kleang, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh, where they had been locked in for 10 days until they were rescued by police.
The victims are 6 Thai nationals, 3 Chinese nationals, and 3 Cambodians.
The police continue to investigate the incident.
