In the spirit of Christmas...

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

In the spirit of Christmas...

Post by Soi Dog »

Following this guy's lead in Pattaya, and in the spirit of the Holiday season and all, I suggest we all get together and start painting random objects around Phnom Penh.

Oh...and if I'm not there, just go ahead and start without me. Good luck with that. :thumb:

British man paints Pattaya Temple Walls to celebrate Christmas
Posted on December 19, 2014

A 77 year old British Resident of Pattaya has decided to paint the walls of a Pattaya Temple as his Christmas gift to the local community.

Mr. Terry Smith has lived in Pattaya for 4 months and walks past the Sutawat Temple every day and noticed that the walls were in a poor state and needed a coat of paint.

With Christmas approaching, Mr. Smith, who tells us he practices Buddhism, decided to buy some paint and transform the temple walls in time for the festive period.

Social Media users were the first to publish pictures of Mr. Smith and local residents would offer him food and drink as he continued to paint the walls in the heat of the day.

Mr. Smith believes strongly in community spirit and he hopes that his gesture will encourage more Thai’s and Foreigners to involve themselves in community projects.

As scandals involving misbehaving monks rock the nation, 101 East examines if Thailand can save its moral soul.

Nehn Kham was once a hugely popular monk preaching in Thailand's poor northeast region. Today, he is an international fugitive with a $32m fortune that he amassed through fraud.

Buddhists around the world were shocked when footage emerged of the monk on a private plane, clutching a Louis Vuitton bag and fidgeting with high-end gadgets. His extravagance put him atop a long list of misbehaving monks making headlines in Thailand for fist fights, smuggling drugs, selling guns, hiding pornography and more.

In response, Thailand's military junta has set up a 24-hour hotline for the public to report rule-breaking monks. But the junta is also proposing new laws to criminalise breaking any Buddhist rule - a move some fear is an over-reaction that would threaten religious freedom.

101 East exclusively reveals where Thailand's infamous jet-setting monk has been hiding, and meets those on a mission to save the country's moral soul.

Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen
Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht

In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist

The wall looks great... until a gang of Thai teens comes along and sprays a huge cock on it.

I'd spray much more than just a cock on it

I'm sure the local motodops will appreciate having a nice, newly-painted wall to piss against for a change. :thumb:
