Cambodia News (Svay Rieng Province): On August 4, 2021, at the Teahean dike near the international waterway of Prey Vo in Prey Vo village, Kompong Ro district, a clash broke out between merchants using the boat docks to ship imported rice.

Before the incident, Long Leap, a 25-year-old man, bought one hectare of land by the dike waterway and built the docking platform (12m x 700m) with sidewalks on both sides for 3 of his import-export business with the Vietnamese merchants.
On the morning of theabove incident, they blocked the waterway by letting the Vietnamese boats dock there to transfer their rice. This action caused bottleneck problems on the waterway for the other merchants.

The businesses between Vietnam and Cambodia through this waterway were closed 1 month ago, but it was reopened for the last 3 days and then this incident occurred. The other merchants have now requested the Svay Rieng provincial police to open up waterway 2.5m more on both sides to avoid jams and allow better boat traffic.
Officer Soch Piseth has submitted a formal request to the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology which is pending.
