Home covid testing kit
Re: Home covid testing kit
I don't understand the logic on home tests to be honest.HappyChappy wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 4:54 pm Guys my friend doesn't want to risk going to a center and getting locked up. Is there a kit sue can use at home so she can just self quarantine if positive??
(a) The home test is positive, she stays at home for 2 weeks (assuming she doesn't have a bad case & need to go to the hospital she was trying to avoid in the first place..); then after a second test a couple of weeks later is negative, she goes out with her mates & then gets home and er, is worried NOW she has it from her mates, take another home test... rinse/repeat.
(b) The home test is negative, so she goes out with her mates & then gets home and, er, is worried NOW she has it from her mates, takes another home test ... rinse/repeat.
I understand getting locked up in a government quarantine is probably a lot worse than just staying at home (the food looks bloody awful for starters) - but just seems to be trading one physical confinement for an even worse vicious circle of mental confinement of repeated tests the moment a temperature is 0.1c above "normal"; I can't tell which is worse to be honest.
If I got any symptoms I'd just quarantine to be on the safe side & otherwise get on with life. Just me?

Myself, I always have one or more "symptoms" of covid all my life so I don't quarantine and am in rude good health
Home covid testing kit
Rapid test kits available from both private sources and from the MPTC.
A stall in the lobby of the Vatanac building sells test kits for example at $13 each or $250 for a box of 25 tests.
The MPTC sells tests in boxes of 25 for $94. You go to mptc.gov.kh/rt and get directed to a Telegram bot in English and Khmer to order as many tests as you want.
They are technically for businesses only (you state business name and how many staff you have etc) but I’m not sure how thoroughly the information is checked.
The tests are easy to use and I find them useful for doing spot checks on staff who start displaying suspicious symptoms.
The tests also give an indication of level of viral load, it’s not just a yes/no result. A high load gives a quick and strong positive test line but if you are nearly recovered for example, the positive line is very faint.

Re: Home covid testing kit
These home test kits are lateral flow tests (piss) and not that accurate.

Re: Home covid testing kit
Lateral flow tests aren't piss tests. Feel free to check the NHS site for more information on them. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavir ... -symptoms/. They seem to be quite accurate.
I'm not sure who manufactures the tests being sold over here, but the way they function is the same. I've also heard that the nose swab is far less painful/invasive than the swab for the PCR test.

Thanks. Yes you’re correct.
I’ve done a home test. Easy to use once you follow the video on YT.
I was clear by the way.
