A foreigner, named Shani Surez (Shani Chavez), who goes by the nickname 'Blue,' of accused of stabbing someone at Hometown Hangout, a bar in TTP area in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

People are still looking for him.

Hey, if i hung out too much with people, full stop, i'd probably be doing that too.
Send him for a spell out into the jungle and he should come good . Works wonders for me anyway. (at least for a while)

Is it common to come across foreigners in Cambodia who go by a nickname like this guy? "Blue" makes it seem he's a musician or some sort of entertainer.

Everyone has a nickname! When you know a million guys called Dave, you have to be able to distinguish between then. I know Navy Dave, Accountant Dave, Fat Dave, Big Fat Dave, Sailor Dave, Asshole Dave, Barman Dave and so it goes on.

In the land of Oz there are lots of guys nicknamed Blue. It means that they have red (ginger) hair. [Aussie logic]

Is there a corresponding news report of a westerner getting stabbed in a bar by another westerner? I would have thought that would have been very newsworthy and would have caused a scene with all the police and blood on the floor.

It would make a change from the Khmer's lopping chunks of each other after 10 Ganzberg.
