Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On July 22, 2021, at 10:45 pm in Khan Por Sen Chey, on Street 2004, there was a DUI traffic accident caused by an unidentified Chinese man driving a Lexus 470 (Phnom Penh 2R-1288).
The suspect crashed into the street barrier and damaged a banner billboard. After causing the accident, the suspect escaped the scene leaving the vehicle behind.
Later on, the traffic police towed the car to the police station, where they are waiting for the suspect to come forward and claim his car and pay for the damage.

How do they know it was a DUI unless the perp was tested? It's just as likely that the perp snorted a big line of K and felt a bit wobbly driving around.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Now, what if the owner of the vehicle remembers nothing and reports his car stolen.

No big deal. He'll be back to get his car. One big dollar bill to pay for the damage and another one for the "police towaway fine".
It would be interesting to know how many people actually get charged with drunk driving. :dm:

I don't care what the vague report said, unless the perp was tested there was no proof of DUI.

They probably have plenty of evidence for saying it was a drunk Chinese who pulled a runner. But he's probably paid enough hush money to keep it from being reported and quietly awaiting new license plates.

The Chinese do seem to be attracted to road dividers and lamp post and this is preferable to them killing innocent people. I do wonder how much an accident like this costs overall.
