CEO and Khmer440 reach a GENTLEMEN'S AGREEMENT!

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

I used to be able to manually toggle octal code into the midi almost as fast as a punch paper tape reader.

Old times.

I used to work on a 029 card punch and feed a deck into the card reader. My dick is ........... lol

'71 played Astroids with an IBM selectric typewriter via modem in a wooden box to a mainframe. (300 baud)

Learned just enough APL to do my homework.

Not binary. But a guy at the IBM Lab could think in Assembly (machine code) Language. They fired that genius's ass after he told a Bank client he could do a project in 3 weeks instead of 2 years. Of course IBM wanted to bleed the client over time.
I worked in the Lab when I was 15 yrs old.

I worked on the government's IBM mainframe (converted from card to tape drive) way back when, it spoke MVS/JCL and covered the entire floor of a disguised warehouse block. One on the opposite side of Australia mirrored the operation and data for redundancy. Staff who worked at the facility were signed to secrecy (in those days) and two or more of us were forbidden to ever be in close proximity to each other outside of the facility as a form of 'asset security'. More than 25 years ago now, seems a very long time. Are we getting old, Milord?

My specialty was PAL8, used in a PDP-8, the midi that drove 3M Computer Output Microfilmers. Used to be something of an expert in the field. Kind of like being a cobbler now, except people still use shoes.

In the early 70s, we didn't use a Selectric, but a TTY in a box with a modem, if I remember correctly. Used to play Star Trek, and if the connection was stable enough, the Cave. In fact I learned to type on a TTY and still bang on the keys like I have to push it down half an inch.

One of our code monkeys wrote a text based sheep station (farm, for you non AusEnglish speaking types) simulation game using the mainframe. Management turned a blind eye until they learned he'd also written a console keylogger and distributed it using the game as a Trojan.
