Cambodia News (Kandal Province): On June 24, 2021, Takhmao city and Koh Anlung Chen police shut down a crowded engagement ceremony at a house in Kandal Koh village, Sangkat Koh Anlung Chen, Takhmao city.

The celebration was organized by a 57-year-old 3-star officer, Ouk Bora, who broke the Covid-19 restrictions when he went ahead with his big party, despite the fact that the local authorities had officially banned and rejected the gathering.

The police completely shut down the ceremony and sent everyone home, after giving the officer and company a brief lecture on the guidelines of Covid-19 prevention.

Local villager had a wedding for her daughter. She personally went to each and every house telling them to show up or else.

The Sangkat said that the wedding ceremony wasn’t allowed, but wouldn’t stop it, either. The wedding ceremony continued as scheduled.

All the villagers showed up for the wedding as dutifully told. Happy cops, happy villagers.

New Village chief told younger sister not to keep going to parties all over Cambodia to prevent the spread of the virus. Delivered the message to older sister. Younger sister heard about it, drove to his house and tore him a new one for even thinking about scolding her. She continues to party all over the country.

Laws are inconsistently applied. Virus will continue to spread.

The superiors again demonstrate the virus is only for the poor.
