Land of Smiles

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Food looks terrific too, the corner of my mouth may just drool from the corner of my lips, only a little, but it knows the differences in food quality between the countries we both now reside. yong you are such a lucky guy.

Doesn't surprise me..xenophobia continues in thai society..another example. And the pandemic has brought out their true colours.

Even if the news reader meant it as a joke, the inference is there and perpetuates it imo.

I think that's nonsense, the pandemic hasn't changed anything. You could always find examples like this one to make your case for "xenophobia in Thai society", if that's your thing. Those Thais who are xenophobic didn't need a pandemic to bring out their true colors - they were unashamedly xenophobic long before!

Then again, why single out Thais? I don't know of any foreigner here in Thailand who was refused treatment by a hospital for being a foreigner (as reported from Cambodia) or refused a haircut for being a foreigner (as reported from Vietnam). If anything, Thais I'm dealing with in Bangkok seem more eager for my business nowadays.
