Methods we can use to avoid quarells and resolve issues

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

@armchairlawyer I agree. Attention such as answering your wife with a thoughtful response to show you're listening and interested and not just acknowledgeing her with a grunt or ignoring her. Also affection - when you walk into the room touch her shoulder, rub her back, if you want to ask her something stand beside her and look into her eyes. Smile, then ask. When (she is or you are) trying on a dress in the mirror, make eye contact again and then gently hug her. She should be affectionate too, if you let her. Share light feelings with touch and concerns and thoughts with tact.
There is a nice piece of dialogue in a film called Lady Bird.
The eponymous schoolgirl is talking about why she paints certain things. She denies having loving feelings for the things she paints. She says it's just that certain things caught her attention so she painted them.
The teacher responds by saying - Don't you think that's the same thing? Noticing things and loving them?

@armchairlawyer There's a song that goes a little something like this..... 🎵 Everybody loves somebody sometime. Everybody falls in love somehow.... 🎵

The song Desperado sums up my experiences in SE Asia. I've had a few queens of diamonds and I'm gettin no younger but I let someone love me before it's too late.

Don't you draw the queen of diamonds, boy
She'll beat you if she's able
You know the queen of hearts is always your best bet
Now it seems to me, some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones that you can't get

Desperado, oh, you ain't gettin' no younger
Your pain and your hunger, they're drivin' you home
And freedom, oh freedom well, that's just some people talkin'
Your prison is walking through this world all alone

Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the night time from the day
You're losin' all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away?

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, open the gate
It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you
(Let somebody love you)
You better let somebody love you before it's too late

I really liked the advice from Phnom Penh Pal.

But if she’s really the one for you and you are really the one for her, then there is patience and understanding to make it all work out together.

But if it it’s just two ships passing in the night for a good time, or just to occupy time, then it doesn’t matter.

Good luck, everyone! And may you find the one for you.
