Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

It’s China that’s fighting to contain COVID’s fallout now, not the West

Check out the highlighted passage. Maybe coming to a country near you too?

The democratic West did not lose the pandemic after all. The US may well emerge in better fundamental shape from the events of the last 18 months than Xi Jinping’s China. This is an enormous geopolitical upset.

It was universally assumed after waves one and two that the chaotic, ill-prepared states of North America and Europe had suffered an irreparable blow to their collective prestige, and a concomitant loss of global economic caste. We can see in hindsight that they suffered neither.

Jiang Jinquan, Xi’s propaganda chief, declared that Beijing’s success in stamping out COVID-19 with seemingly minimal economic damage had shown “the superiority of China’s political system”. The Communist Party believed that China’s sorpasso had been pulled forward by a decade and was henceforth unstoppable.

Kishore Mahbubani, the prophet of Eastern ascendancy, said COVID marked the definitive start of the Asian Century. The pandemic would accelerate the shift to a “China-centric” global system where the enfeebled white man would have to learn his new place. Deference to Western societies and values would be “replaced by a growing respect and admiration for Eastern ones”. It made sense at the time.

A year later it is far from evident. American and European vaccines are the miracle cure sought by everybody. Japan’s vaccination drive has been strangely inept and nine prefectures covering 50 per cent of GDP are still under a state of emergency. A fourth wave has filled hospitals, and the Indian Delta variant has again thrown the Olympics into doubt. Japan’s economy remains stuck in recession.

Those who relied heavily on Chinese vaccines have grown wary of large claims and opaque science. Chile vaccinated fast and early with Sinovac, and Hungary with Sinopharm. Both were overwhelmed by fresh waves of hospitalisation and death. Nobody believes trial data any more.

I think China sees COVID-19, and its response to it, as the government's breakthrough moment. If hindsight shows the consequences as less than the pronounced ideal, China, and Xi, are going to have to save a lot of face.

china killed the world on purpose and tried to take over.
Their vaccines do not work..just like their shit appliances ..
They cheat and rob and flood the world with fentanyl.
They are run by a group of thugs.
Never has there been a more dastardly bunch.
Every single citizen of the World should present them a bill for what their lab games have done.
Any country that owes them money should stop paying them.
Fuck em....

According to Dr. Scott Gottlieb on CNBC this morning scientists are equally divided on the evidence regarding the origin of the virus but apparently the Chinese government refuses to release information that could possibly clear them. Consequently, everyone is left with the question of what are they trying to hide!

The fact China closed the lab and sealed all the records, suggests they have a lot to hide. Much of the data of their earlier work was published and recorded, plus there were previous claims of work undertaken and achievements, plus funding applications for further studies. They can't supress what's already out there.

Everyone knows this was China's one and only virology lab specialising in bat coronavirus, and they were successfully working on manipulating one such virus into humanised mice and human cells. That bat was only found in caves 1500 miles away, and that bat had a travel radios of less than 50 kilometres.

The host was the humanised mice in the Wuhan lab. It jumped to the humans that worked there. It spread to where they lived - Wuhan.

Sky News Australia reports that China's chief spy catcher has defected to the US with his daughter and is reportedly spilling the beans on the origins of the virus and its escape from the lab in Wuhan:

Sky Australia aren't exactly a great source; they do run with any old shite as a matter of routine

I suspect that if he did defect in February as reported we would know by now and also he allegedly gave a speech in China last week

So on one hand China want to be the world super power and the One Belt Road initiative helps them create trade routes so they can sell more shit to more people, developing nations like SE Asia and Africa, but on the other they release a virus that’s crippled all economies and reduced spending plus killed loads of people, or customers, and anti Chinese sentiments have increased.

The two don’t make sense.

A lot of things in China don't make sense. I remember every time I pointed out weird/conflicting/poorly thought out stuff to officials/managers/teachers in China, they'd reply with, "This is China."
