Whatzup - Breaking Cambodia Covid News on Outbreaks and Lockdowns

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

They certainly have not hovered about 500-800 for several months now

See the graph of infections/days:

I suspect you have mixed up the "active cases" with the daily new positive tests; as for several months they had 500-500 active cases at any given time, but it was just the last week of April that the daily positive test rate spiked

What are the weekend numbers? KT is saying 659 but unsure what day that is for.

I further read on KT that there were 37 deaths over the weekend. ICU's full??

The grim weekend continued for Cambodia as The Kingdom recorded another 17 deaths from COVID – making a total of 37 deaths over the weekend. This represents the worst period since the outbreak began last year.

Yes, Saturday (which are Fridays numbers) 20
Sunday (Saturdays numbers) 17

Average deaths rising even if cases aren't

At this point it's clear the cases are worthless as the testing limit is being hit everyday.

Therefore, 20 deaths equals about 2,000 cases 2-3 weeks ago (very basic calcs)

Reported cases around that date (Jun 5) 550-650

I know this is no subject for discussion but with the number of cured people being higher than the newly infected people almost every day it seems we're in a country blessed by Buddha him/herself.
Spoiler:
or in a country where they cheat with the numbers
