Smuggler Caught with 4,680 Smartphones
Re: Smuggler Caught with 4,680 Smartphones
Seems a bit phoney to me.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never allow the dumb ones to lead the pack.

Do you think this is for detail resale, or could it be for a more industrial purpose, such as a click-farm or whatever is done in large groups for VOI scams ?
And what could be the source ? Container theft, production line mismanagement ?

At maybe $500 each, more like $2 million...Jack.R. wrote:Over 4000 iPhones, that is probably close to 300.000$.

The States? yes, honestly it is likely.yochigga wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 2:11 pmWait what? So they smuggled phones from and into Cambodia? This post said into Cambodia, while the Khmer Times one said from Cambodia to Vietnam? Where'd they get the phones from then? The States?John Bingham wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 2:03 pmAccording to other sources he was trying to smuggle phones into Vietnam from here to evade taxes.

They are made in china , every time i get a new iPhone I wonder if it coulda fell off a truck in china but all the numbers
( of “ find my iPhone “ jel ( gel ¿ ) I recently lost a new iPhone 12 promax, whoever found it called me and asked about a reward -
evidently $100 wasn’t enuf so it “ fell off “ the “ find my iPhone “ radar .. so the parts are worth more than that ..
[ I woulda bid higher to get my phone back but the finder did not know that ]

They could have been copies.
People of the world, spice up your life.
Re: Smuggler Caught with 4,680 Smartphones
Yeah I assume so. Since most used iPhones that circulate in Indonesia are from USA, I figured they're doing the same business model here (or any other SEA country). Not surprised since most Americans typically upgrade their iPhones almost every time the new one is out. Actually, mostly from countries with contract-based celular plan. USA, Singapore, Japan, HK, etc. We barely have that in Indo. Add the tax, and cellphones become really expensive, especially Apple's. So most tend to resort to secondhand market. I did too with my current iPhone 11. So far so good tho--never had any issue.
I doubt they're willing to risk smuggling them if they're copies. It's not worth it.
