Transgender Political candidates. Positive?
Labour leader Ed Miliband says he is "so proud" that his party has selected a transgender parliamentary candidate to stand in May's general election.
Emily Brothers, who will contest the seat of Sutton and Cheam, said she wanted to be "a positive role model".
Mr Miliband said Ms Brothers, who lost her sight to glaucoma as a child, was a "courageous campaigner".
She is believed to be the first openly transgender person to run for Westminster from the Labour Party.
Ms Brothers was selected last month to run in Sutton and Cheam, in South London, a seat currently held by Liberal Democrat Paul Burstow.

I don't have a problem with transvestites, and don't mind going along with the pretence that they are a women, in the rare interactions with them. But I do suspect mental issues. So I'm still trying to suss if transvestite/ gender politicians is a good thing. Although I respect a blind person who has got them selves in a position to be a political candidate.
Is Ed Miliband right to be " so proud"?

It certainly can't have been easy - no doubt there will be sniggers and snears here too.
Off the top of my head, I'd say this candidate has a load of guts and stands up for what she believes in. Surely something positive in a political candidate ?
Otherwise, I don't know anything about her, whether she is a convincing speaker, an intelligent person etc.

There's a fine-line distinction between illegal and decriminalized in Australia, and the distinction is defined on a state-by-state basis. States with large mining industries tend to declare exclusion zones.
