Man Burns down House After Wife Refuses Booze Money

Cambodia News, (Battambang): On the evening of May 24, 2021, at Group 9, O Chamlong village, Ta Sen commune, Kamrieng district, Battambang province, Chhuon Pon, a 30-year-old man set fire to the dwelling where he was living with his wife.
Damaged items include: 1 house, 1 bag of rice, clothes, dishes, pots, mosquito nets, blankets, Khmer money 300,000 Riel . In addition, some documents were destroyed including the family book, birth certificates, and other papers.

Before the incident, the perpetrator asked his wife for money to buy alcohol, and she said "No way". Then the husband became angry and went to buy gasoline and set fire to his house. Police said they did not immediately dispatch the fire truck to intervene due to the long distance and lack of information. It arrived too late and the house burnt down completely..

Don't think we've had a house burning story for a couple of weeks :)

I like the list that shows all the damaged/destroyed items, including 1 house :)

I am not making excuses for that guy, he clearly did serious wrong by burning down the house. It looks like that "house" is all they had, probably didn't even own the land, who knows. But being trapped in grinding poverty and hopelessness, it sometimes only takes something small to push someone over the edge. Hopefully he will come to his senses, and try to rebuild. I wish them both luck, they're going to need it.
