Re: UK News, Updates and Discussion
This is from the Independent. I am having trouble believing that somebody who says they are a "cryptocurrency investor" would fall for an online scam ?
A school teacher was conned out of her savings by a bitcoin scam that promised Elon Musk would "double her investment".
Julie Bushnell plunged £9,000 into a fake scheme that claimed the billionaire entrepeneur was having a Bitcoin "giveaway".
The scam was hosted on a website made to look like BBC News with an article claiming Tesla, Mr Musk's company, had bought $1.5bn worth of bitcoin and was planning to give away half the sum.
Ms Bushnell, a cryptocurrency investor from Hampshire, had been setting her money aside for a house but opted to deposit it through a link on the website on the promise she would get double the amount back.
As it became clear the reciprocal payment would never arrive, she realised she had fallen victim to a scam.

This is worth a read jamieJamie_Lambo wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 2:22 amyeah theres the whole propaganda thing,tightenupvolume1 wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 9:46 pm In all fairness there are a tiny number of birth defects, people born with a mixed up gender. But i think what is happening now is a mix of LGBT propaganda, fashion and a type of mass hysteria . The huge rise in children attending the Tavistock clinic in London, a place that specialises in sex change/puberty blockers is disturbing.
"The number of children and young people referred to the service grew from 97 in 2009-10 to 697 in 2014-15." (from a news report)
One person who worked there remarked "at this rate there will no gays left"
its like the whole cultural appropriation thing now too, these videos sum it up nicely...

haha Fuck the Windsors theyre not true British monarchy, theyre German, the British monarchy died with Anne Stuart, the Windsors real name is "Saxe-Coburg and Gotha", but changed their name during the first world war because of the German hatexandreu wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 1:39 pmMy Khmer partner is quite literally the worst singer I have ever, ever heard in my life. By far. I'm neither joking nor exaggerating. Imagine the worst singer on The X Factor and multiply it by a hundred. If I'm not told the song beforehand, I would have no clue as to what the song is supposed to be. There are no words in the English language to truly describe what a horrible, horrible experience it is to have to listen to.Doc67 wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 11:47 am The Prince of Privacy is at it again, this time with a cry-baby podcast about being sad and unhappy.
He really is a fucking wanker.
Prince Harry Tells Podcast He Contemplated Quitting Royal Life in His 20s: 'Like Being In a Zoo
The Duke of Sussex revealed the inner workings of what life was like growing up while speaking to actor Dax Shephard, host of the podcast Armchair Experts.
"I've seen behind the curtain, I've seen the business model, I know how this operation runs and how it works," Harry said, while recalling that he thought, "I don't want to be part of this."
Harry later described his youth as "going wild" and partying in his early twenties, while struggling with the social and emotional responsibilities of being within British royalty.
"I don't want this job, I don't want to be here, I don't want to be doing this, look what it did to my mum," Harry recalled thinking. His mother, Princess Diana of Wales, was thrust in the spotlight after her divorce from Prince Charles and later died in a car crash in Paris in 1997.
You can listen to it here if you can be bothered.

The worst thing about it all however, is that my partner honestly believes he has what it takes to be the next Sam Smith / Justin Bieber / Ed Sheeran. He is the audio equivalent of anorexia. What he hears himself is so far removed from what everyone else hears, it's shocking that it could possibly exist in nature.
The reason I'm saying this is because, similar to my partners singing, Harry and Meghan seem to suffer from something similar, only so much more severe that it borders on mental illness. Despite the rest of the world screaming at them to just shut the fuck up and go away, they still have the ardent belief that what they have to say is of interest to everyone and they still hold a huge amount of relevance to ordinary people's lives. I feel like I want to gnaw my knuckles for them every time they speak about their latest message for the world. Much like my partners singing, what they perceive others to be hearing is a far, far cry from what others are actually hearing.
When it comes to singing though, it's a harmless bit of fun that can easily be laughed off. But to be public figures on the world stage and continue to be so deaf to the pleads of the world to just go away shows a level of egotism that's off the scale.

On second thought, maybe this explains the seeming lack of functioning grey matter in some young people.

India variant will be dominant UK Covid strain ‘in next few days’
Boris Johnson's refusal to put India on the Red List and implement a flight ban for those crucial few weeks allowed upwards of 30,000 people from India to arrive and be allowed to self isolate at home; and everyone knows this is nothing even close to effective quarantine. Now this Indian variant is entrenched in many places, 86 local authorities have reported 5+ cases and it is going to put to the test all those claims of confidence in the vaccines. It is literally fingers crossed time.
It is a very rare event in politics that the consequences of a bad decision taken by a Prime Minister are felt so acutely by the country within the space of a few short weeks. The full effects of this decision wont be known for another few months, but for a Prime Minister, that is terrifyingly fast. Furthermore, no far off public enquiry is going to buy him time on this one.
It may even prove to be his downfall, especially if he has to lock down again because it was his decision to delay because of an upcoming meeting with Modi, and everyone knows it. Whatever happens in the next 2 months will be laid at his door, and not just by the opposition.

The Covid variant first detected in India is set to be the dominant strain in the UK within days, experts have said, with the government and health teams struggling to contain cases, which have risen by more than 75% since Thursday.
With the rapid spread of the more transmissible B.1.617.2 variant threatening to reverse moves to ease lockdown, the government faced intense pressure to more fully explain the delay in adding India to the so-called red list of countries.
Dominic Cummings, Boris Johnson’s former chief adviser, joined the criticism on Monday, calling the UK’s border policy a “joke”.
Johnson is now set to delay plans to announce an end to social-distancing rules, postponing the conclusion of a review expected by the end of the month, casting significant doubt over the wider plan to relax most lockdown rules on 21 June.
Speaking on the day indoor hospitality and other venues were allowed to reopen, Matt Hancock told MPs that 2,323 cases of the variant known as B.1.617.2 had been confirmed, up from 1,313 on Thursday, with 483 of those in the outbreaks in Bolton and Blackburn. There are now 86 local authorities with five or more confirmed cases, he said.

Here we go. The first to break ranks with the EU. It wont be the last and could be the start of the UK's travel isolation.

COVID-19: Germany declares UK a 'virus variant region', requiring travellers from Britain and Northern Ireland to quarantine for 14 days
Germany has designated the UK a "virus variant region", meaning anyone arriving from Britain and Northern Ireland will need to quarantine for two weeks on arrival.
It comes a week after Germany declared the UK a COVID "risk area"
The Indian variant of the coronavirus has been spreading in the UK, with more than 3,400 cases identified so far.
According to guidance from German authorities, a virus variant region is "at particularly high risk of infection due to widespread occurrence of SARS-CoV-2 virus variants of concern".
Great Britain, Northern Ireland, all British Overseas Territories, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands are all covered by the new restrictions, which take effect from midnight on Sunday.

Germany is on the UK's amber travel list - meaning people should not go on holiday there, and anyone arriving back in Britain will need to quarantine for 10 days or go through a test-to-release scheme.
Speaking about the latest quarantine rules, a German government source told Reuters news agency: "We want to play it safe.
