Villager and Seven Cows Struck Dead by Lightning
Re: Villager and Seven Cows Struck Dead by Lightning
A ligthing bolt is 10GigaWatt, that is a 10 followed by 9 zero's.
It's like being hit by a butterfly or a high speed bullet train.

Cows often huddle together in bad weather, or maybe the farmer was feeding them or something so they were all crowded around him when the lightning hit. Whatever the reason, it seems like the ultimate shitty timing for the farmer to be standing in the middle of them.Doc67 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 8:18 amBut seven cows and the owner?John Bingham wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 1:30 amMost of the country is an alluvial plain, so it's incredibly flat. There are also plenty of waterlogged areas. So the tropical storms that occur regularly don't have many high points to hit, they just whack down and electrocute the hell out of everything nearby. Cambodia is lucky in that it has very little seismic activity and most typhoons from the South China Sea are dissipated before they land here, the Annamite range helps a lot in this. We don't get Tsunamis either. However, we have one of the highest rates of deaths from lightening in the world. It's just one of those play offs.
Does the lightening hit the ground near them and electrify the water in which they are ankle deep? I thought once it is earthed that is it.

There’s a popular misconception that a lightening strike is like a falling spear or rock, and that it has a small impact zone and you have to be incredibly unlucky to be standing exactly in that spot.Doc67 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 8:18 amBut seven cows and the owner?John Bingham wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 1:30 amMost of the country is an alluvial plain, so it's incredibly flat. It ain’t always so, some strikes are like a cloud of electrical energy which on making contact with the earth zaps anything within it, a few years back a herd of more than 300 reindeer were killed by a lightening strike in Norway.

At least they were together, I imagine their owner being with them provided them comfort.Random Dude wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 11:52 amCows often huddle together in bad weather, or maybe the farmer was feeding them or something so they were all crowded around him when the lightning hit. Have you ever watched cows in a field? They're the ultimate chilled out zen masters. I think it's much more likely they provided him comfort just before they went to the big pasture in the sky.BillDoe wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 1:33 pmAt least they were together, I imagine their owner being with them provided them comfort.Random Dude wrote: ↑Fri Apr 30, 2021 11:52 amCows often huddle together in bad weather, or maybe the farmer was feeding them or something so they were all crowded around him when the lightning hit.
