UPDATE : Oknha released!


Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): In a surprising event, it has been reported that Oknha Kith Theang, owner of Rock Entertainment Club, accused of trafficking nearly 50 kilograms of drugs, was released by the Court of Appeal earlier this week.

The actual case is that Oknha Kith Theang, who was sentenced by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court to 4 years in prison for facilitating the use of Illegal drugs and conspiracy, in relation to the trafficking of nearly 50 (49.44) kilograms of drugs in his nightclub, has just been released quietly upon a decision by the Supreme Court judge.

Kith Theang was arrested on 11 March 2019, and sentenced to 4 years in prison on 20 March. The remainder of his sentence was suspended some time this week according to the source.
The source added that about 30 other defendants who were imprisoned for involvement in the case with Kith Theang were not released. Chou Bunrin, spokesman for the Court of Appeal, could not be reached for comment on the afternoon of May 15, 2021.

Some online gossips are saying that it was decided to organize the release of Oknha Kith Theang while the general public is busy following the story of Duke Heng Sear and Miss Mean Pich Rita on social media, but this is only hearsay and may be incorrect.
