The Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital soon after it was built. It's still an important facility. The neighborhood has changed a bit though.

That's a great picture. Amazing how Stung Menchey used to be a real "Stung". Funny how organized thing uset to be, without wanting to jam something into every little corner.

I remember when I first came here there was a Russian Cultural Center on Norodom. They had pictures outside and my Russian was still passable back then so I tried to chitchat with the staff inside. It was obviously not really maintained as no one really visited it and they probably only held exhibitions a few times per year. A few years later it was torn down. I think it was either across Buuyong Town or maybe closer to Sisowath. Can't recall.

I know a lady who was born in PP in 1982.
She contracted tetanus as a baby after unsterile equipment was used in the delivery room (they think to cut the cord).
The baby got very sick and was at death's door.
Her parents took her to a Russian hospital and the doctors saved her life.
They have been forever grateful to those Russian doctors.
