No drugs or medication required; do your best to switch to an intermittent fasting eating cycle and you'll find that you can get much better clarity of mind. I don't really need it as much as some who use it to lose weight, etc - I'm a naturally skinny sod, but I find that even taking just one day a week to go 16 hours without eating gives me a great boost thereafter.

There is a lot of stuff on it on Youtube; two channels I'd recommend being Dr. Berg & Thomas De Lauer who have endless amounts of 'science' on it. I wouldn't know if they're snake-oil salesmen frankly, when they quote research papers with just 10 test subjects my Spidey-senses tend to tingle. But I will say that my own experimentation with intermittent fasting has been very positive, but mostly on the cognitive front.

We have different reasons for doing it, but I think intermittent fasting even one day a week would be a good start for you - and if you can get into the serious cycle on a daily basis you may see the benefits that others report. To me it is a hassle to do it every day, I'm trying to gain (healthy) weight, not lose it, so cramming all my food into an 4-8 hour window is no fun. That's why I didn't call it a "Diet", it isn't, it is either a way of life you can get on with, or you shouldn't bother. For me one day works perfectly well, give it a go - the first time I hit 20 hours without eating I was on red alert, once you get over the initial "feed me!!" body tingles, you should have a heightened level of concentration - and not a tablet in sight.

It's sad how just because Martin Berkhan shared knowledge before finishing his book all those wankers became experts on intermittent fasting to the degree that they don't feel they need to cite its actual creator.

If you want " "science" ", Martin Berkhan refers to it like all the time on his blog in everything he advices including intermittent fasting. https://leangains.com/

One pharmacy offered to sell me Adderall, which is a stimulant used for attention deficit disorder and an amphetamine, they wanted $6 a pop though and I was not going to carry them back into Thailand.

Have you tried having a full time penile erection? (easy with Viagra today)
It was a bit of a thing amongst a group of Hemingway wannabe's at one time - they reckoned you could write the great american novel all day long with a perfectly focused mind.

true story - not just another american hard-on Hemingway style fiction

I'm not a big drug taker of any kind - I'd have to have a serious migraine just to take some Dolipran, and have no interest in illegal substances for recreational use.

I've been looking into the kind of drugs that are freely available at pharmacies here lately, and they all seem to be of the sedative type - diazepram and the like (I say "and the like" because I've forgotten what the others are called, but I've researched them and they all seem to have the same sedative qualities)

Is anyone aware of anything I can buy over-the-counter which help with concentration and alertness? I have an extremely busy workload sometimes, and I can't stand coffee or red bull. Does anyone know of any mild medication you can get over-the-counter which helps with concentration and alertness? Something I can neck on the odd occasion when I really need to get things done?

Please keep your judgements to yourselves. This post is as-is. I'm not looking for a 'high'. Just something that might give my brain a bit of a much needed boost from time to time.
You are looking for Modafinil 200mg and Adrafinil 150mg, basically the same thing, same effectiveness.
Not expensive, kind of $1 a pill, no side effects, besides staying aware/awake/focus, so highly recommended to take as earlier possible in the day.
Brands are not important, it’s a pre-1964 drug so generic brands are king.

Thanks. Any idea where I can get it in PP? A quick Google search tells me Pharmacie de la Gare have it but is it generally available elsewhere?

Methylphenidate comes as Ritalin and modafinil as Provigil. Clinical studies show they can enhance cognition to a small degree in people without cognitive deficits, but drugs hat enhance one type of function might have a detrimental impact on another, or people who already function well might not experience any benefit, and even with less natural ability might experience only slight effects. Another important issue is whether statistically significant improvements in cognitive functioning can be translated into practical or clinically significant benefits in real-world contexts; efficacy vs efficiency.
Whack a B12 in there daily if you are low on meat and seafood, but I look forward to my morning warmed muesli (B12) with yoghurt (B12) and fruit, mainly bananas (better than coffee).
Snack on an egg, and eat fish - fatty, with omega 3. Exercise, not just body, but brain muscle with puzzles or learning something new. Even walking a different route. If it is not stimulated, it goes rusty (certain nations lack schooling...). You pack these things into your daily must-dos, and in a month you will be thriving and looking for action. You will bounce out of bed, instead of rolling over the side at 11. Just like other muscles, work it hard and it will work hard. Even if you use supplements (steroids with other muscles), you still have to work out.
Viagara can have associated side effects, like amnesia - quite the opposite of your goal, I expect. I also add organic apple cider vinegar to drinks (tooth enamel eater, though), and tumeric and broccoli (if you dont cook, eat it raw).
Side effect: You might be to smart for others to keep up with you, so make some allowances.
Favourite film: Limitless (because it's gonna happen)

To test efficiency, study how blockchain works (that'll kill 5 minutes), pick it up again after a couple of weeks of "training", then 2 weeks later. If there are no improvements, I'll eat my tumeric-sprinkled hat with sardines and a brocolli salad!
Regarding medication (ok for a quick fix), I have one word for you: WatchLimitless

You can get Ritalin here but it’s not common. A friend I mine used to get it from a Pharmacy near Kandal Market. Not sure which one as there are a few and they left a year ago.
