Confusion as Sacred Lovers' Tree Reportedly Uprooted by Storm
Heritage is also made of myths and legends...
Cambodia News, (Tbong Khmum): On the evening of May 6, 2021, many Facebook users posted and shared a picture of a Po tree that was uprooted due to strong winds and rain, and this highlighted the misleading history related to the love story of Tum Teav in the Longvek period for hundreds of years.
Responding to this misunderstanding, Mr. Seng Sokhoeun, Tbong Khmum District Governor, clarified that the fallen Po tree was not related to the Tum Teav love story, as the locals called it “Ta Ta Krahorm Po Tree”. »
This Po Tam Tam Krahorm tree is hundreds of years old, situated about 70 meters from the Tum Teav love story Po tree, located in Cheung Kal village, Mong Rieu commune, Tbong Khmum district, Tbong Khmum province
Immediately after the fall, Deputy Prime Minister Chea Sophara, Tbong Khmum Provincial Field Team Chief, and Mr. Cheam Chansophoan, Tbong Khmum Provincial Governor, assigned the district authorities to cooperate with the relevant departments to use cranes to replant and further improve the conservation of the historic site due to the storm damage.
