Worker Shot Dead by Ratanakiri Plantation Owner
Cambodia News, (Ratanakkiri Province): At 14:30 on April 24, 2021 at the plantation house in Kong Youk village, Pate commune, O'Yadao district, Ratanakkiri province, a worker was shot dead by a gunman in a pool of blood for unknown reasons.
According to preliminary information, the assailant who shot the victim was Ly The Cheang, a 48-year-old man from Kampong Cham province, who is currently residing in O'Yadao District, Rattanakiri Province. He is the owner of the plantation and is reported to be a member of the military.
The unnamed victim, a male plantation worker, died on the way to Bor Keo District Health Center.

There's not much information here, but as wild speculation, I'd say that the owner thought that the guy (victim) was stealing from him.
I don't know anything at all about this case, but if you go out after dark in a plantation, armed with a loaded pistol, then you are looking for something.
