Information on Coronavirus / COVID-19 in Cambodia (Latest Updates December 2021)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Or Vandine, spokesperson for the Health Ministry, confirmed that patients will have to pay for treatment at private hospitals.
Guaranteed free treatment for Covid-19 has been taken of the table. FYI.
Where is this quote from Kammekor? I've missed seeing it. Coz that's a significant departure from the existing policy of only some public hospitals treating Covid cases.
Post number post488078.html#p488078 from @CEOCambodiaNews.
That's a big development..
Meanwhile, as hospital beds run short in Phnom Penh, Health Minister Mam Bunheng has decided to allow private hospitals to treat COVID-19 patients in the capital. The decision, he said in a press statement, was made in order to help relieve the burden on public hospitals, which have been overwhelmed by the rise in cases.

Private healthcare facilities will require permission from the Ministry of Health and will have to adhere to conditions set by the ministry, but the statement was unclear whether COVID-19 patients will have to pay for treatment.

Or Vandine, spokesperson for the Health Ministry, confirmed that patients will have to pay for treatment at private hospitals.

This comes just days after the ministry approved the use of rapid testing kits officially known as Rapid Agent Test COVID-19 to be carried out by private hospitals across the country on April 22.

It is. Free treatment has been taken off the table unless you find a place in an overwhelmed government hospital (a place you probably don't want to be).
So if you don't have medical insurance covering covid maybe you want to reconsider staying in Cambodia.

the 'burden on pubic hospitals' they're taking about is obviously a financial one
if they can ship the covid dead out to aural
they can ship the living to provincial hospitals if necessary

but now they think they have their covid immunity
they're pulling up the ladder

Maybe with about 8,000 registered cases now, and 5%-10% getting seriously ill and needing oxygen or more (400-800 people) they simply did reach the limits of the government hospitals?

Cambodia isn't famous for it's excellent health care, isn't it?

No, you can't.
Thanks! What's your source on this? Is this explicitly stated somewhere; or you know from firsthand experience? I'm hearing conflicting explanations, so trying to pin down the details.

Due to virus patients filling 80% of the wards, Kossamak hospital closed.

Once all the virus patients have been sent to other places, ? Maybe the Koh Pich mega site? , the hospital will open back up.

Please be safe out there!

Farm products haven been sitting at a warehouse distribution center outside the city for so long that all the produce has spoiled.

And the eggs have hatched, with baby chicks running around in the egg crates.

Funny, but super sad.

Please stay safe out there!

It's what the governor of Phnom Penh published today as an addition to HE's statement.

i don't think there are so many serious cases filling beds
but if there are, and they are very sensibly co-opting private beds
they need to pay for it
