Phnom Penh Municipality announced late tonight that all the people living in the designated “Red Zones” in the capital are required to undergo mandatory test for COVID-19.

According to its statement, the decision aims to eliminate the source of COVID-19 transmission in Phnom Penh.



For residents living in the designated red zones of Sangkat Stung Meanchey I, Sangkat Stung Meanchey II and Sangkat Stung Meanchey III, Khan Meanchey, shall go to have their samples taken at:



* Old landfill in Damnak Thom village

* Location along Street 1019 in Trea village

* Church of Jesus in front of Phnom Penh Gendarmerie Command



For people living in the area designated as the red area of ​​Sangkat Choam Chao I, Khan Por Sen Chey, shall have their samples taken at:



* Sopheak Mongkom Primary School

* K-Mall in Trapeang Thleung 1 village

* The lot behind Independent Market in Trapeang Thleung 1 village.



Residents living in the designated red areas of Village 14, Village 16 and Village 17, Sangkat Boeung Salang, Khan Toul Kork, are to be tested at the Chenla Cultural Centre.



Those who refused to be tested shall face legal action in accordance with the law.

Getting your area designated as a Red Zone just got a whole lot more serious.

How many people actually live in these areas? Divide that by the number of SPARE CAPACITY of testing (Nil) and that will give you the time it will take to test everyone.

Anyone have any idea of the numbers of people in those areas? Without spare capacity to test it could take a very long time.

PHNOM PENH--It has been more than one week since lockdown was officially declared in Phnom Penh and Takhmao City, but given the relentless rise of COVID-19 cases in Phnom Penh and beyond, Prime Minister HE has hinted that the capital’s lockdown could well be extended beyond April 28.

Food supplies became the next of HE’s promises to fall through as markets around the city were ordered to close. Within the red zones, the situation was dire. Even local shops, minimarts and grocers operating from their homes were forced to shut down, but the Ministry of Commerce announced that residents of the red zones could purchase rice, canned fish, noodles, fish sauce, soy sauce and bottled water from the government.

The water is provided by a company that boasts Hun Mana—HE’s daughter—as chair of the board of directors and the rice is believed to be sold by Oknha Leng Navatra. Meanwhile the noodles are on sale courtesy of One More Manufacturing, which is owned by Chumteav Cheung Sokuntheavy, who is both married to and step-sister to Lau Vann, son of Cambodian People’s Party Senator Lau Meng Khin.

The Ministry of Commerce did not respond to questions regarding the choice of products being sold to those in lockdown who have no other choice but to buy from the government, saying the state-owned Green Trade Company is responsible.

The Commerce Ministry’s move has resulted in a de facto monopoly over the red zones allowing the wealthy and politically connected to profit off Phnom Penh’s poorest.
