16Yo Woman Arrested for Illegal Use of Weapons and Drug Trafficking

Cambodia News, (Kandal province): On Friday, April 16, 2021, there was a police raid on illegal weapons and drug trafficking at the house of the suspect named Pel Mey in Trapeang Kak village, Samrong Leu commune, Ang Snoul district, Kandal province. He and two accomplices escaped, leaving behind a 16-year-old girl, who was taken into custody.


Four suspects were sought by police; three escaped and a young woman was taken into custody:
1-Name: Salay Vicheka, alias Ka, Female, 16 years old, Nationality: Khmer, Occupation: Farmer, Present address: Trapeang Tbeng Village, Samrong Leu Commune, Ang Snoul District, Kandal Province. (Detained for drug trafficking).

2. Name: Pel Mey, Male, 20 years old, Nationality: Khmer, in Trapeang Tbeng Village, Samrong Leu Commune, Ang Snoul District, Unreal Occupation (Gang Mastermind), Possession of AK Weapon, (Escaped).
3-Name: Tim Doeun (aka Pek), Male, 21 years old, Nationality Khmer, Residence: Trapeang Tbeng Village, Samrong Leu Commune, Ang Snoul District, Unreal Occupation, Possessing an AK-47 Weapon with no number, 30 bullets and 1 original firearm, brand Z518368, as well as other firearms. Tim Doeun (aka Pek) has five arrest warrants for drug trafficking (Escaped).
4-Name: Sol Raksmey, Male, 21 years old, Nationality: Khmer, Residence: Trapeang Tbeng Village, Samrong Leu Commune, Ang Snoul District, Occupation: Uncertain (Escaped).

Prior to the incident, the Samrong Leu Administrative Police Force received information from Soeun Saran, a 40-year-old Cambodian woman in Trapeang Kak village, Kandal province that Sol Reaksmey, her nephew, took a revolver and threatened to kill her for R5,000 (five thousand riels).


Immediately after receiving the information, the police force, in cooperation with the district specialized force, went to the scene to check and search, but before arriving, the male suspects escaped, leaving behind weapons and drugs, hidden in the house.
Police then continued to search for the suspects and found them hiding in the house owned by Pel Mey, but then the three suspects escaped into the forest east of the house, leaving a 16-year-old girl, Salay Vicheka, who was arrested.
Police found an AK-47 assault rifle hidden in a chicken coop, along with some other weapons and some drug paraphernalia.

What does this mean, exactly? The cost of a village hit? We all know life is cheap in the KOW. But R5,000? A buck and a quarter?

The prisons here convert young people into theives. Nobody cares tho. Their real purpose is to disappear the opposition party.
