Information on Coronavirus / COVID-19 in Cambodia (Latest Updates December 2021)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

The Chinese ones get only about 50% effective after the second shot.

Cambodia ain't a war zone....

Outside of Phnom Penh (where the majority lives) life still is more or less normal (ok, no inter provincial travels allowed), although Iron Grandpa gets a bit upset about the people there living their normal lives (despite having no confirmed cases or stretched healthcare).

The first AZ jab gives you 80% protection. Meta studies from your country, DOC. (GB) I guess.
80% protection against what?
Meaning after the first shot, about 20% of participants still can get covid.

It don't matter what vaccine you have you can still get covid, they just minimize the severity.(someone will tell me I'm wrong)

PM Orders to Strengthen Lockdown Measure
AKP Phnom Penh, April 16, 2021 --

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HE has ordered competent authorities to strengthen the lockdown measure in Phnom Penh capital and Takhmao town of Kandal province so as to be able to cut off the transmission chain of COVID-19 in 14 days.

"Stay wherever you are during the 14 days even though there are some exceptions," underlined Samdech Techo HE in a special voice message shared this afternoon.

"If the situation does not get better, the lockdown will be extended in Phnom Penh and Takhmao and even be imposed in some other provinces," he added. "Don't use the exceptions as a pretext to leave home."

The Premier thus urged the citizens to participate in carrying out the measure so that our country can return to normal, and ordered the authorities at all levels to reinforce the control of the travel in and out Phnom Penh.

Samdech Techo HE also encouraged the punishment of those who violate related laws and regulations without exceptions.

Phnom Penh capital and Takhmao town have been in a two-week-long lockdown since April 15. During the lockdown, people are not allowed to leave their house unless necessary and with some exceptions: travel for authorised professions and businesses, for foods and other daily necessary stuff with at most 2 persons per household and not more than three times a week, and for health emergencies, etc.

Anyway, the travel must not be made between 08:00pm and 05:00am, except for emergency health and family reasons, goods transport, and so on.

Besides, all gatherings are banned, except among household members, funerals, and gatherings of health staff and competent authorities on duty.

Mask wearing and safety distancing as well as sanitation and temperature screening are required.

the situation has already got better
if it were spiraling out of control we'd be seeing 1000's/day by now
but we had 500+ new cases/day a week ago, down to 1,2,300 now
according to official figures

still no explanation for why vaccinations have been cancelled for just 3 days
and just when new supply has arrived

Cambodia’s COVID-19 unofficial status logs around 400 new patients discovered today

April 17, 2021

#National

Today alone, up to 21:30 hours, a total of 400 cases were believed to have been discovered with many more samples waiting to be tested or tested and waiting for results.

Spoke a little too soon.

Also matters about where they are testing. The two biggest days were when focussing on orrusey and the factory. Bound to be higher that day.

Add to that, the fact that the testing capacity is so low Its very unlikely to see more that 500 when you can only test 7000.

i don't think that's an add, it might be an explanation
and i did say 'according to official figures'

even so, the figures haven't gotten much worse, but the measures have
ever since the minister got sick
and especially since he died
