i would have thought the 'elite' would have been vaccinated by now

i wonder if domestic staff will be allowed to travel to work?
probably they'll be forced to stay and sleep in the garage

Unless they have had their second jab they are not protected. The AZ one arrived on March 2nd, so they won't have rolled out the second dose yet, although the first dose does give a good level of protection.

The Chinese one (that's most of them) is not showing good results after just one dose. There is a lot of people out their that think they are protected and might get careless, Covid-19 has already got their Sec of State for Information. I bet he would of had a shot already.
NOT TRUE!
The first AZ jab gives you 80% protection. Meta studies from your country, DOC. (GB) I guess.
Yes, AZ does give a good level with one shot, after a few weeks, not right away.

However, my point, in response to the suggestion that, "i would have thought the 'elite' would have been vaccinated by now" was that although they have given 1.24 million shots so far, precious few will have anything like the protection that will make a difference.
If they have kept sufficient stocks of the AZ for the second dose, and have used all they can, that's no more than 162,000 people.

Also, at the start of the vaccinations, HE decreed that only the over 60's would get the AZ, and everyone else would get the Chinese ones. Whether that was stuck too is anyone's guess.

All the rest are the Chinese ones and I suspect the vast majority have had only the one shot, and the results coming out of Chile are not good. Given that Sinopvac and SinoPharm have both used the old vaccine technology, there is little room for optimism that SinoPharm will perform any better and come anywhere near the AZ/Pfizer/Moderna/J&J vaccines. Time will tell.

Chile has provided a real-time demonstration of the effectiveness of Chinese firm Sinovac’s Covid-19 vaccine, with its vaccination drive results showing it to be 56.5 per cent effective two weeks after the second dose. The findings were in line with Phase 3 trial results of the vaccine in Brazil, which found an efficacy rate of around 50 per cent.

But the study by the University of Chile also found that one dose of the Sinovac jab was only 3 per cent effective against infection, underscoring the need to get fully vaccinated. Efficacy rises to 27.7 per cent within two weeks after the second jab, reaching 56.5 per cent a fortnight later, according to the university.

More than 1.24 million people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 since the first shots were given on February 10.

The vaccines delivered are Sinopharm – 1.3 million doses, Sinovac 1.5 million doses and Astra Zenecca through the Covax initiative, 324,000 doses.

Half a Million More Doses of Sinovac Arrive in Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, April 17, 2021 --

Some more 500,000 doses of China-made Sinovac vaccine, the second batch purchased by Cambodia, arrived at Phnom Penh International Airport this morning.

The vaccines were received upon arrival by H.E. Ms. Yuok Sambath, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health.

According to the Chinese Embassy in Phnom Penh, despite its own need for vaccines, China continues to meet the demand of Cambodia, which clearly demonstrates the "iron clad" friendship between the two countries.

"The embassy hopes that the Chinese vaccine can actively contribute to the Cambodian people's efforts in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic," it underlined.

Recently, the Chinese government has announced to donate 400,000 more doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine to Cambodia, which is expected to arrive in Cambodia at the end of this month.

Cambodia has so far received 1.3 million doses of China-donated Sinopharm, 1.5 million doses of Sinovac bought from China, and 324,000 doses of AstraZeneca/SII (COVISHIELD) offered by WHO via COVAX Facility. More than 1 million people, both militaries and civilians, have been already vaccinated against the COVID-19.

Cambodia expected get up to 11 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines this year.

the trials were all 28 days IIRC
the 12 weeks is logistics
in fact i think they had to test to confirm waiting longer than 28 days for the second shot was still effective

i can't think why they would halt regularly scheduled vaccinations for 3 days
They've known since the start of February that 12 weeks was the sweet spot for AZ though. That's a whole month before Cambodia's first AZ vaccinations took place.

closing sangkat borders is ludicrous
you can be in line of sight of your usual shops but not get to them
and end up mixing in areas that you normally wouldn't
are there atms in every sangkat for example?

Where are the 3 million doses donated from Australia? And what about the millions donated to buy vaccines.
