I'm confused. (Because stupidly, I am looking for some logic )CEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 5:18 pm This is just in from Sihanoukville:
Cambodia News, (Preah Sihanouk Province): The administration of Sihanouk Province on April 15, 2021 has issued a directive about stopping the sale of all kinds of alcohol for 14 days.
The casinos have reopened, but you can't drink a beer at home ?
And I haven't checked personally, but I'm guessing that the brothels in Sihanoukville are also open for business as usual.

Who says you cant drink beer at home? Sales are banned, consumption not.Anchor Moy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 5:46 pmI'm confused. (Because stupidly, I am looking for some logic )CEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 5:18 pm This is just in from Sihanoukville:

I don't know how this will play out, but I guess the small shops will have stocked up on beer, but that beer delivery services will be suspended from the depots, so eventually the shops will run out of beer.Soriya wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 6:45 pmWho says you cant drink beer at home? As I said, I don't know, as I've never seen a (serious 14-day ) ban on alcohol sales in Cambodia until now.
In the meantime, casinos are open for business in Sihanoukville, so is it with or without alcohol? That was my query. AFAIK, Chinese casinos are open for gambling and drinking, but Khmers must stay home and be sober (which doesn't seem fair when you consider that the whole shit hit the fan in Cambodia because of imported visitors who escaped quarantine and spread the virus.)

That depends how well prepared you were when it was first announced, and how strict your neighbourhood is. Beer is buyable everywhere around my local neighbourhood, plus i stocked up enough for a small army.Phnom Poon wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 6:52 pmsophistry, soriya

Pop round if you get desperate, i will give you a good rate.
Re: Alcohol Sales Banned/No dining-in - PP
Just a couple of points: why do posters insist on reprinting government announcements in khmer, when no one can read them, not even most khmers? Also what happened to the four Chinese who escaped quarantine and caused all the problems? Haven't heard any more about them. Were they just taken out back and shot?Anchor Moy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 7:32 pmI don't know how this will play out, but I guess the small shops will have stocked up on beer, but that beer delivery services will be suspended from the depots, so eventually the shops will run out of beer.Soriya wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 6:45 pmWho says you cant drink beer at home? Re: Alcohol Sales Banned/No dining-in - PP
I can answer this for you from a news poster's POV.
People are going to jail for posting "fake news" on the internet. Sometimes this is not "fake" news, but it's news that is posted by one government department, and then another department or a higher-up person disagrees with what is announced, so then it is called fake news. Or it is posted by social media bloggers before the official announcement (without an official decree), and that can also be called a crime of fake news or incitement.
If you post the official decree along with the "news item", then that is the official decree, and the news outlet is (hopefully) not responsible if the decree is corrected or denied by other officials later on.
Hope that clears things up for you.

What’s your basis for saying that Chinese casinos are open for drinking and gambling?Anchor Moy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 7:32 pm AFAIK, Chinese casinos are open for gambling and drinking, but Khmers must stay home and be sober (which doesn't seem fair when you consider that the whole shit hit the fan in Cambodia because of imported visitors who escaped quarantine and spread the virus.)
