More details on the Covid-19 infections reported today:
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The Ministry of Health on the afternoon of April 9, 2021 issued a press release confirming the continued discovery of 576 people newly infected with Covid-19, most of whom live in Phnom Penh.
According to the press release, all 576 reported cases were spread in the community: 544 in Phnom Penh, 1 in Kampong Cham, 2 in Siem Reap, 1 in Kandal, 12 in Sihanoukville, and in Svay Rieng province, 16 people.
Seventy people were healed and released from the hospital.

It would be very useful to know how many locations were involved. If the vast majority are concentrated in just the three locations - Orussey market and the two clothing factories, then that’s better than if they were spread over many locations.

I fear this will be getting a lot worse.

I guess (enclosed) market & factory management is more efficient in the short term given the numbers of vaccines available.
For some reason (we really couldn't guess why) so far they Competent Authorities have kept a close eye for those. Esp. (garment) factories with hundreds of workers in an enclosed area day after day....

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The Covid-19 Disease Research Sub-Committee has issued a notice at Boeung Trabek Plaza that some people (no number given), who have tested positive for Covid-19, went to the above market to buy vegetables, fish and meat.
The Sub-Committee on Research on Covid-19 call on the people who are vendors and shoppers who were at Boeung Trabek Plaza on April 3, 2021 at around 10am to go and get tested for coronavirus. The infected person(s) went to buy vegetables, fish, meat in the east section of the market. Please isolate yourself and monitor your health for 14 days according to the health rules if you went to that place on 3 or 4 April.
And please everyone wear a mask when you go outside. Thank you!

Cambodia Registers Another Coronavirus-related Death
AKP Phnom Penh, April 09, 2021 --
Another patient has lost her life due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19); bringing the death toll to 25.
According to a press release of the Ministry of Health made public this evening, the new death case is a Cambodian woman of 55 years old living in Sangkat Prek Leap, Khan Chroy Changvar, Phnom Penh.
She was tested positive for the deadly virus on Mar. 30 and was admitted to the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital on the same day, the source pointed out.
She passed away on April 9, at 14:56, due to severe pneumonia infected by COVID-19, in addition to her diabetes, it underlined.
The Ministry of Health expressed its deepest sorrow and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
As of this morning, Cambodia's tally of COVID-19 reached 3,604, of which 1,984 have recovered successfully.

Phnom Penh Municipality has announced that it will impose a 14-day lockdown on several places in the capital as 631 new cases were detected by 10pm tonight.
According to the announcement, the identified places include Sangkat Steung Meanchey I and II in Meanchey district, Sen Sok’s district’s Troung Man Village, and 6 villages in Pou Senchey district.
For Sen Sok district: Trong Moan village of Sangkat O Bek Kam, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh.
For Po Sen Chey district: Trapeang Thleung 2 village and Toul Pong village of Sangkat Choam Chao 1,
Chamkar Ovulk 1 village,
South Pork village,
North Pork village and

During the lockdown, which will be in effect after today’s midnight until April 23, travelling and gathering will be strictly restricted in the selected areas, except for the emergency situation. Also, only essential businesses will be allowed to open under the strict supervision of the authorities.
Phnom Penh governor Koung Sreng said in press conference this evening that the selected areas were associated with the “Din Han garment factory” cluster, which saw almost a thousand people infected in less than three days.
