Cyclist Hits a Highlander in Phnom Penh

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cyclist Hits a Highlander in Phnom Penh

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

And yes, he came off second best in the encounter:

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On April 5, 2021, a man hit a car with his bicycle on Russian Federation road, Sangkat 1, Khan Porsenchey, Phnom Penh.

Before the incident, another man was driving a Highlander car, plate PP2AI-7513, from south to north, when suddenly the car driver slowed down to park the car on the street. The man on a bicycle was caught unaware and drove straight into the car. He was seriously injured.

I like to ride around on a cycle in the provinces, but I've never had a bicycle in PP. I've ridden bicycles all over Cambodia, but when I bike, it's for fun and taking in the scenery, and I'm not sure I'd enjoy that in the city anyway.
Still, a lot of expats like to cycle in PP - I've seen them. Are you a PP cyclist ? As a means of transport, does a bicycle really beat the traffic jams, or do you get caught up in a haze of pollution and confusion ?
I don't live in PP btw, I just visit.

Cyclists are masochistic individuals.
