Thailand Travel Restrictions and Info

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

it says the quarantine period will be decided once arrival in thailand, but you have to pre-book your quarantine hotel in advance in order to get the COE, so how will that work

Tourists who intend to visit Phuket will still have to undergo quarantine but only for 7 days rather than the 14 days mandatory quarantine needed previously.

Maybe July of ur vaccinated no quarantine

Biggest problem is

ONLY a Few flights in

^^^

The wording is still misleading. First up they refer to countries with the Covid variant then later specify the Sth African variant..

So which is it? All variants or just the Sth African one? For example, those from the UK where there is the UK variant do they have to do 14 or 10 days quarantine?

Are there any countries that don't have some sort of Covid variant by now?

Indeed, most nations have COVID "variants of concern" so you could interpret this new harebrained program as almost empty of promise.

Thai tourist island of Phuket gets Covid jabs first in race to offer quarantine-free holidays

It's getting noticed in the UK.

In Thailand, it’s the all-important tourism sector that has jumped to the head of the Covid-19 vaccination line, with the country’s most popular resort island embarking on a mass inoculation programme two months ahead of the rest of Thailand.

The island of Phuket aims to deliver shots to at least 460,000 people – the majority of its population – as it gears up for 1 July, when vaccinated overseas visitors will no longer be required to quarantine.

Phuket also has its own international airport, which means tourists should be able to visit the island without posing any coronavirus risk to the rest of Thailand’s population.

“If we can build immunity for 70-80% of the population on the island, we can receive foreign tourists who have been vaccinated without the need for quarantine,” Phuket’s Vice Governor Piyapong Choowong told Reuters.

460,000 shots will barely get everyone registered one shot, not counting migrants and expats

personally dont see things looking up till dec,
"I pledge to bring 950,000 Covid-19 vaccine doses to Phuket and inoculate 70% of the local population by June. If we cannot reach this target, the tourism sandbox will not occur," Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the tourism and sports minister, told more than 300 hotel operators at a meeting last week.

That June deadline makes it a race against time as the province has now only booked 100,000 doses
