Teenager Arrested for Impersonating a Monk in Battambang

Cambodia News (Battambang): On March 30, 2021, Lieutenant Changthon Vanchai reported that on March 29, 2021, a teenage boy was detained for pretending to be a monk to beg for money at the market in Battambang.

After checking the boy's credentials with the Provincial Cult Officer in Batambang, police arrested a 15-year-old boy, Houn Fon, from Kampot province.

The teenager admitted to the authorities that he pretended to be a monk, and said that he was earning from 40,000 riels to 50,000 riels per day from begging.

tbh many cambodian monks should be arrested for impersonating actual buddhist monks
