What's that noise ? It's the Covid reminder.
All Pagodas Advised to Ring the Gong to Remind People of COVID-19
AKP Phnom Penh, March 24, 2021 --
All pagodas across Cambodia are requested to ring the gong at the same time, five times a day, to remind people of COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a directive signed yesterday by Minister of Cults and Religious Affairs H.E. Chhit Sokhon, the move is aimed to alert people to increase their vigilance against COVID-19 by carrying out the "3 Dos and 3 Don'ts" measure and other health safety guidelines.
The gong ringing will take place at 05:00, 11:00, 14:00, 17:00, and 20:00 every day until the end of the Feb. 20 Community Event.
Threat of COVID-19 is recurring in Cambodia following the outbreak of community transmission called Feb. 20 Community Event.
As of yesterday, Cambodia’s tally of COVID-19 increased to 1,788, of them 1,266 are linked to the Feb. 20 incident. A total of 999 patients have so far recovered successfully, with five death cases.

Cambodia News, (Kampong Chhnang): On the morning of March 26, 2021, Wat Toul Metrey, also known as (Wat Aleng), which is located in Aleng village, monks, the pagoda committee, local authorities and residents participated in the beating of the drums and the ringing of bells in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 disease in the community on February 20.

Banteay Meanchey: On 26 March, 2021, in pagodas all over Banteay Meanchey province, there were drums and chanting and prayers to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 disease, in accordance with the circular of the Ministry of Cults and Religious Affairs.

Mr. Chhit Sokhon, Minister of Cults and Religion has instructed all pagodas and temples of all religions to beat drums and ring bells in unison at 6 pm on August 20
The aim of the exercise is to increase and maintain public awareness and vigilance of COVID-18
Previously, PM HE had instructed pagodas to beat drums and ring bells at 5 am, 11 am, 2 pm, 5 pm and 8 pm for 5 days in March 2021.
