Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On March 16, 2021, at 7 pm, a man was arrested for beating the police officer who stopped him from drinking, in Sangkat Prek Thmie, Phnom Penh. The victim was identified as Mao Sivon, a 51 years old man, a police officer at Prek Thmey police post, and the suspect as Leng Bunly, 31 years old, a construction worker.

Before the incident, the construction worker and his friends were sitting around outside, drinking, playing music and talking loudly. The neighbors complained about the noise to the local police. When the police turned up and told the men to stop drinking and making such a row, the drinkers argued with the police. The conversation became heated, when suddenly the suspect punched the police officer in the face, knocking him over, and then he kicked the officer in the stomach while he was lying on the ground.

The suspect was detained at the police station for case preparation following the legal procedure.
