Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: On December 27, 2020, a woman who was working as a sales representative of a new brand of online cosmetics from Russia, CTM, was arrested by the Criminal Police Force of the Ministry of Interior in Borey Piphop Thmey Market, Kour Srov 2, Sangkat Prek Kampus, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh.

Ner Chantra, a sales representative for the new brand CTM (cosmetics), was charged with 12 counts of collecting nearly US$ 1 million without delivering the product to the customer or paying the original brand owner. In addition, she used the name of Ms. Try Dana to defraud her company and used the money to buy a house.

The criminal police force of the Ministry of Interior arrested the accused woman and sent her to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court.

Try Dana, or Dana Try is a wealthy cosmetics/gold seller who likes to hand out 50,000 riel to randoms whilst filming it.

The Rise and Fall of Try Dana (on a Billboard), or the Power of Social Media

Cambodia News, (Pailin Province) : Preliminary news reports said that on the afternoon of February 15, 2021, a large billboard of Try Dana, advertising her company (NNP) on National Road 57 in Pailin City was dismantled, after an outcry from angry locals on social media. Many people wanted to know how Mrs Try Dana could have permission to post such a big billboard on a public road.

Following the numerous critical Facebook comments, there was a fast reaction by the authorities, who have sent workers to remove the offending advertisement.

More drama surrounds Try Dana after she was allegedly robbed by her child's nanny:

Phnom Penh: The owner of the Dana Try diamond shop, Ms. Try Dana, was robbed of $ 12,000 by one of her employees, but the theft was not successful and the suspect was immediately arrested and handed over to authorities.The theft occurred on March 3, 2021 in Phsar Lech village, Sangkat Prek Pnov, Khan Prek Pnov, Phnom Penh.

As for the suspect, she was working as a nanny, minding Ms Try Dana's child, and she was staying in the Try Dana Jewelry Shop along Chhnach Chan Boulevard in Phsar Lech Village, Phnom Penh. She was identified as Samreth Phal, female, 35 years old, Khmer.

NO STOPPING: Try Dana Stops Expressway Traffic with her Shorty-Shorts

There has been much outrage on social media after the famous "businesswoman" Try Dana posted about 20 photos of herself and a luxury car - the photos were taken in a no-stopping zone on the roadside of the Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville express motorway. Many comments were made about people who think that they are above the laws that apply to ordinary citizens:

Please note that the expressway is put into operation, requiring drivers to adhere to the principles set by the Ministry of Public Works to avoid accidents for themselves and others on the road. In particular, it is forbidden to drive on the road to take pictures (selfies), and it is also forbidden to drive backwards.

However, in this present case of an illegal photo shoot on the expressway by an influential businesswoman, which was then posted on publicly on social media, the Ministry has not yet made any effort to fine or even educate this person.

Influencer ‘100% wrong’ to stop on Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway to take ‘selfies’
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport has stated that a well known Cambodian social media influencer acted in an unsafe manner when she stopped on Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway to take ‘selfies’ – and he instructed her to come forward and admit her mistake.

The pictures, taken by Try Dana – well known as the owner of a diamond shop in Phnom Penh – has been severely criticized by commentators on Facebook

Heang Sotheayut, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, said that the above action, if for the purpose of parking, just taking pictures and posting was 100% wrong, as it could endanger lives.
