We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

The Alibaba vaccine is only recommended for folks who are under 60 years of age.

From the PM's press conference that was held earlier today, following his vaccination:
Prime Minister Samdach Techo has repeatedly declared that the reason why he cannot be vaccinated with China's vaccine is because of the fact that the age limit is 18 years to 59 years old and this new vaccine AstraZeneca has no age limit.

Today, Samdach Techo has called on citizens not to travel to Sihanoukville, if it is not absolutely necessary, and he calls on citizens of Sihanuoukville, don't pass other provinces for a while due to the current Covid-19 spread.

HE is also calling on the people in Phnom Penh, don't leave the house if there is no need in order to prevent the propagation of the Covid-19.
He also agreed with the request of Ministry of Education to close schools in Phnom Penh, Kandal Province and Sihanoukville for a while.

New Feb 20 incident twist: Two Vietnamese women found infected at border
Tith Kongnov / Khmer Times

The February 28 Community Incident has taken a new twist after two Vietnamese women linked to it, tested positive for COVID-19 after being stopped while trying to return to their country at the border in Svay Rieng province.

The provincial administration said in a press release yesterday that the women, aged 27 and 28, had been stopped by immigration police at the Bavet International Border Checkpoint on February 28, after having travelled from Phnom Penh to Bavet City in the province.

It said samples were taken on February 28 and sent to the Pasteur Institute in Phnom Penh for COVID-19 testing. The results came back positive on Tuesday.

In the press release, the administration did not provide details of how the two women were linked to the February 20 incident but local media reported that they had stayed in Star Diamond Apartments in Phnom Penh which is among 77 hotspots identified so far in the capital.

The apartments were identified as a hotspot and locked down on February 28, a day after the women had left for Bavet City.

That is fast, 12 days from infection to death. From the numerous reports I've read, they say that the majority of people will begin showing symptoms 2 - 8 days after infection. Then it will be 7 - 10 days later when they would need hospital treatment and then 2 - 4 weeks until most will either 'recover' or die. Of course, he may have had other health issues which made it worse.

I've also noted that more Chinese are testing positive in Cambodia than are testing positive in the whole of China.
