Information on Coronavirus / COVID-19 in Cambodia (Latest Updates December 2021)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Remaining stubbornly high after last weekend's drop in numbers. Unless those numbers start going down soon, the powers that be might start coming up with more dramatic measures to control it.

The tide of returning migrant workers continues to cross the border from Thailand, legally and illegally.

2 March 2021
In other developments, almost 100 migrant workers were caught crossing the Cambodian-Thai border illegally to avoid quarantine and reach their hometowns in Battambang province’s Mong Russei district.

Tep Horn, Mong Russei district governor, told local media that 92 illegal migrant workers from the border area arrived in his district, most of them crossing through the Pailin provincial border trying to avoid staying at a quarantine centre.

Battambang deputy governor, Seurm Bun Rithy, said that from December 21 to February 28, the number of migrant workers returning to Cambodia through the border to Battambang from Samut Sakhon, Thailand, has increased to nearly 10,000 people who have been quarantined, of which 6,095 people have been allowed to return home.

He said that more than 3,500 people are currently being quarantined in the centre, while the number of migrant workers from Thailand is increasing daily and the Battambang provincial authorities are preparing to expand more quarantine centres.

if they do ill be jumping ship back England again, think bars are opening again there soon :D
but then again.... England claim to be calling "for early end to lockdown as UK COVID data 'better than anyone expected'" yet still raking in figures of 6,391 Daily Cases and 343 Daily Deaths

Those numbers are falling fast and that's Tuesdays figure which are still picking up weekend deaths.

I can get a vaccine jab as soon as I get back. I'm thinking a July trip to Mexico is not entirely out of the question again, especially if things get bad here.
