Kandal Prison Officer Arrested for Accepting Bribes for Escapes

Cambodia News, (Kandal Province): Kandal Provincial Police have arrested a Kandal provincial prison officer accused of allowing prisoners to escape. Ms. Pich Maren, Investigating Judge of Kandal Provincial Court has issued a detention order for Tong Dara, a prison officer, after the court received a complaint from a citizen claiming that this officer had cheated the system to allow prisoners to escape from Kandal prison.

According to Mr. Tin Sochetra, the spokesman of the Kandal Provincial Prosecutor's Office, the person named Tong Dara has been recognized as a prison official who is famous for running to release people from prison, no matter how small or big, in conspiracy with some other people involved in bribes to release people from prison. This has been known for a long time, but now the corrupt official has made a big mistake and faces imprisonment. He was arrested on 25 February, 2021.

One of the golden street rules in my part of town...

Never trust a crim wearing Tommy Hilfiger. (he is not going to be honest or honourable, he is not going to be staunch, he has no guts but he will pay some stooge to do his dirty work.)
or a detective wearing a silk suit.

But when you have a 'cop' wearing Hilfiger you have probably got the worst of both lots.

Based on the tan-line on his left wrist, removed his Rolex. Not a good look when being charged with bribery. Or maybe used it was his get out of jail card?

Crooked prison officer now an inmate - that's got to be rough.

All those blokes who couldn't come up with enough cash to satisfy his greed and were turned down... now they have a head upon which top grind their axes.

Very good point.
But it could go in the complete opposite direction.

If he played it right, he could become a valued member of both communities by becoming the crucial fixer/middle man.
In fact, in this country, i would think that is the most likely option.
He could come out quite a rich man.

And at the least, the pink shirt will go down well in the cellblock at night.
Don't fret Doc, he'll be 'right.
