February 20, 2021, Covid Community Outbreak (Koh Pich and Beyond)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Restaurants, which most bars are as well, were spared last time. Bad news for the booze only types.

How many of them were there ever on riverside anyway? A couple of bars but few if any of the others.

I bumped into a mate today at Super Duper. He goes to the Cambodiana gym as I do. Yesterday, Sunday 21st, he was in their late morning time and when he tried to leave the whole building was surrounded by military police "the serious ones that don't fuck about"

He was held in the hotel for 4 hours while they did what they were doing. After some extra time in the gym and pool he went to the bar to kill time.

It turns out they were they checking up on people in quarantine - it seems they are doing some checks. Maybe they are making sure people who are supposed to be in their rooms are actually in their rooms.

I had no idea that The Cambodiana was a quarantine hotel. I'm not sure I want to go back there now.

Has anyone else heard of The Cambodiana being used for quarantine purposes?
