Murder Inquiry Follows Dead Man Deposed at Kampot Pagoda

Cambodia News, (Kampot Province): According to the Kampot police report, the body of a man was dropped by an unidentified person in Wat Kiri Bopha Rompeun in Sdech Kong Khang Lech commune, Banteay Meas district, Kampot province, causing a surprise on the morning of February 14, 2021.According to the report, a monk in the pagoda came out to water the flowers and suddenly found the body.

Kampot Provincial Police and Banteay Meas District Police, including the District Gendarmerie, inspected the body of the victim, who has been identified as a man, Phe Samnang, 32, with a wife Nak Ron, 31, and two children, living in Chang village, Totong commune, Dong Tong district, Kampot province. The deceased was working for a cement factory company, while the victim's wife also worked at the cement factory in Kampot, too, just in a different place.

Colonel Sok Sakan, director of the Kampot Provincial Office of Technology and Science, said that according to the forensic examination, the victim's body was found to have three different head and neck injuries.
Lt. Col. Sok Sakan said that a hammock was tied to the man's neck, so they are investigating a potential murder, and the police called the victim's wife and other people who may be involved for further information. The victim and his wife were apparently separated.

Police are currently investigating the case and the body of the victim has been taken by relatives for a traditional ceremony at his hometown in Trapeang Treng village, Samrong district, Takeo province. RIP.

Cambodia news, (Kampot): Lieutenant Colonel Chhim Chheang, director of the Kampot Provincial Serious Crimes Bureau, told reporters this morning that the dead man committed suicide after separating from his wife. He had asked her to get back together and she refused.

According to the report, the man was drinking with about ten of his friends when he left them and didn't come back. They went to find him and found him hanging. Everyone was scared about what to do, so they cut the body down and took it to the nearest pagoda.
