Japan-Cambodia Kizuna Festival 2021 to Take Place this Week
AKP Phnom Penh, February 16, 2021 --

The Embassy of Japan in collaboration with the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Centre (CJCC) and the Japan Foundation Asia Centre will organise the 2021 Japan-Cambodia Kizuna Festival this week.

Happening virtually from Feb. 18 to 28, the festival aims to present the culture of Cambodia and Japan and to promote more exchange of the sector between the people of both countries, underlined the embassy in a press release.

The event will include cultural and educational programmes, and the official Facebook page “Japan Cambodia Kizuna” will be used as a platform.

There will be art performances like small shadow theatre and Yike Hom Rong dance, Cambodia-Japan small-scale concert, and sharing of the guideline on Japan’s scholarship “MEXT” and Asia Kakehashi scholarship.

It will also screen the videos of Japanese language class “Irodori”; how to make Chirashi Sushi and Nigiri Sushi; folding paper “Origami” and flower arrangement “Ikebana”; and beyond.

It is expected that participants will feel closer to Japan and deepen their understanding of Cambodian and Japanese cultures through the activities.

Japan-Cambodia Kizuna Festival has been organised annually since 2012.

Japan-Cambodia Kizuna Festival 2022 to take place this weekend

The 11th Japan-Cambodia Kizuna Festival will be held this week, from Feb. 17 to 20, at the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) and the Embassy of Japan in Phnom Penh as well as online, according to the embassy’s press release.

Organized by the Embassy of Japan, in collaboration with the CJCC and the Japan Foundation Asia Center, the 11th Japan-Cambodia Kizuna Festival will be themed “Kizuna is always with you”, it pointed out.

Under this theme, it continued, the festival will bring the participants on-site and online event with new normal due to the situation of COVID-19.

The festival will feature workshops and webinars related to art, education, taste of Japanese food and dessert, trial of traditional Japanese cloth of “Yukata”, folding paper “Origami”, Khmer craft class and calligraphy “Sho-do” as well as other various activities, the same source added.

Japan-Cambodia Kizuna Festival is an annual event organized since 2012 for the purpose of presenting the culture of Japan and Cambodia and promoting further exchanges between the people of the two countries. C. Nika – AKP
