Nowhere Art Studio in Phnom Penh is calling for artists to join the one-month exhibition called ‘Toch-Toch’, a Khmer term, which focusses on small-sized works of art that can create a big impression.

The activity’s main objective is to make art accessible to everyone especially students, hobbyists and emerging artists to take part in an art exhibition during which works are affordable for the public at large to snatch up.

Couple Syahrulfikri Salleh and Lolli Park, the artists who run the studio, said the exhibition theme will focus on the size itself – being small.

“We truly feel small-sized works of art can create a big impression and build an intangible bond between audience and artwork. So, how do we express ourselves within this size constraint? What are the little things in our lives that make us who we are, especially during these unprecedented times? Let’s allow our imaginations to run wild and explore the endless possibilities within these boundaries,” said Salleh.

Cambodian youth, emerging artists and even established artists are highly encouraged to join. During the one-month exhibition, there will also be weekly art activities including artist talks, creative workshops, live demo sessions and music performances for the entire family and everyone to participate in and enjoy.

All artworks are required to be no bigger than 30.48cm by 30.48cm in size excluding the frame. Art can be paintings, drawings, embroideries, block-prints, collages, silkscreens – all original artworks that have never been exhibited before.

The group exhibition ‘Toch-Toch’ application deadline is February 15 and the accepted artworks will be announced on February 17. The exhibition will run from April 3 to May 1, 2021, to be held at the Plantation – Urban Resort & Spa in Phnom Penh.
