Cambodia News, (Siem Reap Province): Mr. Hiek Chanleang, who is the Deputy Governor of Khan 7 Makara in Phnom Penh, was embarrassed by a police raid on his mistress' appartment in Siem Reap, finding him in a compromising position (sharing a bedroom with a woman who is not his wife) at 11:30 pm, January 30, 2021.
The Deputy Governor was arrested for "adultery", after his wife laid a complaint with the Siem Reap Provincial Military Police to arrest him and his girlfriend. The official has been detained and will appear before the Siem Reap Provincial Court; his 25-year-old girlfriend has been released.

Mr. Hiek Chanleang, aged 42, lives and works in Phnom Penh, as does his legal wife, a 41-year-old female civil servant. The man's mistress lives in Siem Reap.

Charges of adultery are unusual in Cambodia, although Cambodian husbands are notoriously unfaithful, so if the wife can call up the Siem Reap Royal Gendarmerie and get her husband arrested for adultery, then she clearly has more clout than her husband. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this case.

Deputy Governors have no clout . Now corruption has stopped they cannot even pay for a bandage to be placed over the eyes to hide his ID.

Cambodia News, (Siem Reap Province): On the evening of February 1, 2021, the sentence of Mr. Hiek Chanleang, Deputy Governor of Khan 7 Makara, was announced as 6 months, but as it is a suspended sentence, the accused was released.

The journalist suggests that this charge of adultery was intended as a wake-up call to the husband be discreet, and to respect the honor of his legal wife and family in the future.
Problem resolved. Very quick court case too.

Question... If a Cambodian has a foreigner wife and was not married in Cambodia can the husband have the wife arrested for an adultery?

Hey, maybe they should use the Eliot Ness technique a little more often.
Can't get them for murder, drug dealing, corruption or tax evasion.
Hit them with the ol' Adultery charge.
