Paying taxes for schools, roads and the fire brigade is socialism, though. Or are you using the free market to offer contracts for people to put out the flames?

New York City tried that in the 1800s or so. Turned out the fight fighters would set fires in order to be called out to put them out (and get paid). Competing fire companies would engage in fights for the right to put out the fire as the building burned down.

Many roads are toll roads in the US. Choose to pay the toll or find a different route.

Parents can choose to put their kids in public school, private school, or home school in the US.

The key is choice. Capitalism is all about choice. Socialism is no choice.

Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. People’s Democracy of (China, Korea), etc. advancing the socialist struggle.
