This unpunished murder is making the rounds of Khmer social media pages and causing a scandal. If there is one thing that the authorities dislike, it is losing face on facebook, so perhaps someone will do something about finding and arresting the killer of this young woman.
(Clue: He is probably living with his parents.)

Cambodian government officials recently launched a Stop the Violence campaign in response to increasing violence against women and children, so it's time for the authorities to step up and take action.

How about placing a bounty on his head? Is that done in Cambodia? By the family or the government? Are there actual bounty hunters active here?

That's a fucking abomination........the guy looks 17 years old.

In the west, your average 1 star would be in their mid 40's, at the youngest.

The ranking/merit structure in Cambodia is more fucked than I thought.

There was an interesting news article a few years back that discussed the embarrassment RCAF officers faced when doing joint exercises with western militaries. During the joint exercises their ranks had to be adjusted down in order to reflect their actual experience / leadership abilities.

It wouldn't be feasible to have a Cambodian General and American General working together.......the Cambodian General would be completely out of his fucking depth.

So during the course of the joint exercises, a Cambodian General rank would have to be adjusted down to a Lance Corporal or something like that.

What a fucking joke.
Fukkin A it's a joke. Not only a joke, but it's completely and utterly preposterous. But it be what it be, bro and we gotta live with it. I've said it time and again the Cambodian military ranks are inflated and if you're gonna have this, bring back the 5 star general, and create new 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 star ranks. Maybe even go up to 15 star general!

So have they stepped up and taken any action? Or is the fuckwit still “making the rounds?“

Relevant authorities have, until now, not arrested the gunman for the murder. This beautiful young woman who was shot by her fiancé with a handgun, sustained serious injuries and died on the way to the hospital. The victim was 25 year old Chun Dina, a medical school graduate who was about to take her final exams. The suspect was her fiancé, 24-year-old Yeun Van Det, a military officer who came to stay at the house where the incident took place. The couple had planned to get married on 28 March 2020.
However, according to the neighbors in the vincinity, the couple were seen arguing frequently due to the boyfriend's jealousy. Then, on the evening of 16 January 2020, when the two returned from renting a wedding dress for the wedding day, there was a verbal dispute, followed by the sound of a gunshot. The assailant grabbed the victim by the arm and shot her in the neck; the bullet pierced her left cheek.
Relying on a neighbor's help, the young woman was rushed to Lam Bunthon Clinic, but the doctor pronounced the victim dead on arrival. When Yeun Vandet learnt that his fiancee was dead, the presumed killer fled the scene and has not been found since then, despite the fact that he has been officially sought by the Cambodian authorities for two years.

The Khmer press have been posting updates and reminders of this two-year-old murder case, where the prime suspect is still roaming free, and they are keeping the topic in the public domain. But, until now, these very pertinent questions from the media have been answered by complete radio silence from the authorities.
Where is the number one suspect, Yeun Vandeth ?

On the morning of January 17, 2020, the police visited the scene in Borey Romchek Odim to make a report with the relatives of the victim and they continue to search to arrest the perpetrator. However, over two years later, the suspected killer has not yet been arrested and prosecuted by the Kambol district police.

Please be informed that the killer, named Yeun Vandeth, about 26 years old, was an officer of the 70th Unit, and is still living outside the law, as the authorities have not yet caught him.
Will the family of the victim ever get the light of justice?

Good job!
Of course, this cannot be "good news", but I bet I'm not the only one here on CEO who has been watching this case over the years and wondering if the army boyfriend would ever get arrested, (even though he was identified immediately as the shooter), or whether his family is so connected that he would get off or disappear.
:mob: Now let's see what sort of sentence he gets, and how much of it he serves.
