Hunt for Rogue Buffalo on the Rampage

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

The buffalo owner named Po Leang, 35 years old, said that on January 10, 2021, he bought a male buffalo from Koh Kong. Then 4 days ago, the buffalo started to be so aggressive and attacked the villagers and the other buffalos.

maybe the buffalo had some of that special chinese tea that seems to be popular at the moment..

Seriously..I always was of afraid of getting to close to that massive animal..even after beeing so told many times that they are very peaceful. After reading that I will contine to stay off them...better safe than sorry!
work is for people who cant find truffles

This was the scariest encounter i have had with a 'wild animal' in Cambodia. ever.
semi grounded and half bogged on my kayak in the shallows
- 'took me ages to retreat. backwards. slowly, while he kept on pushing
(the angle of the ears was the scary bit - and the poring, snorting and glare)

LOL, i have, but not here

That was a recently flooded meadow the edge of the Tonle Sap as the water was rising.
It was just deep enough to pole/push my kayak over.
June, hot. midday. a hour or so to get a few hundred mtres. I was already flocked.
Possibly the worst place and circumstance to have a face-off with Buffalo Bull.

He looks remarkably well fed and fit for any wild animal I have seen in this country.

Maybe they borrowed a stock photo from Basta...

Could be homesick, I brought 3 buffalo once put them in the shed get up the next morning they were gone, they went back to the owner 3 klm away ,few days later one got away while I was feeding them in the rice fields I didn't tie him up good enough, I couldn't catch up with it again it went home.
I'm standing up, so I must be straight.
